A filling is a treatment or restoration of a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape while preventing further damage or decay. When do you need a Filling?
Your dentist will accordingly advise you whenever they notice anything on your teeth that looks abnormal. Which is the best Type of Filling?
The right type of tooth filling for you will depend on the location of the cavity, the extent of the repair, any allergies to filling materials, and the cost. For example; Gold fillings or inlays are well tolerated by gum tissues and are longer lasting. However, they are relatively more expensive and may require multiple visits. Gold inlays are well tolerated by gum tissues and might last more than 20 years. It's often the most expensive choice and requires multiple visits.

Silver or Amalgam Fillings are resistant to wear and relatively affordable. However, they are not the most preferred choice for highly visible areas, such as front teeth, due to their dark color.

Composite Resins on the other hand are easily compatible to many teeth since they look more natural making them easily matched to the color of your teeth. They are best suited for smaller fillings. However, Composites durability degree is low. They easily get stained, just like the natural teeth. They are also less durable and can become stained just like teeth.

We also do Porcelain Fillings, commonly known as inlays or onlays. These are made custom in a lab and then bonded to your tooth. They're matched to your tooth color and resist staining. A porcelain restoration generally covers most of the tooth. Their cost is similar to gold.
