Most importantly the size of your generator depends on your unique power needs, and these needs need to be determined before you buy a generator.

To do this:
1. Select the necessary item you wish to power at the same time.
2. Each electrical appliance or equipment should have its individual running watts requirement. (WATTS = AMPS x VOLTS)
3. Add the total running watts for all items
4. Add the highest running watts appliance to the total again (so that you have added the item twice)
5. Calculate your final total

Once you have a final total of watts make sure you select a Generator that runs slightly higher than you maximum wattage - this will ensure that your generator does not burn out.

When choosing the Generator make sure you look at the Rated Power and NOT the Maximum Power. This will ensure the longevity of your generator.
